The city police have asked the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) to conduct their Saturday public rally, to be addressed by party's leader Akbaruddin Owaisi, indoors. Earlier, the police had given permission to conduct the party's thanks giving program at Nagpada junction. However, on Friday police said that the party could go ahead with its program but 'indoors only'.

AIMIM won two MLA seats in the state; Imtiyaz Jaleel in Aurangabad and Advocate Waris Pathan in Mumbai. "After winning the seat in Mumbai, Akbar bhai wanted to meet the voters personally and conduct a thanks giving speech. We sought permission but today the police said that we cannot conduct the program at Nagpada junction," said Pathan. He added that the party had already paid money to BMC for the program.
Sohail ahmed, one of the organisers of Saturday's rally of Owaisi said that the cops didn't allow them to hold a public rally in the open. ""Now we looking for an auditorium and will cut down on the number of audience as the seats will be limited. But we will go ahead with the meeting,"" said Ahmed. They had published huge ads in Urdu dailies inviting people to attend Owaisi's talk in huge number.
Zonal deputy police commissioner, S Jaykumar, said, "We have just asked the party to conduct the program indoors to avoid any law and order problem."
