Asaduddin Owaisi: Will oppose any move by govt to bring anti-conversion law

Hyderabad based All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) Chief Asaduddin Owaisi has launched scathing attack against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while blaming him for indulging in vote bank politics by dividing people in the name of religion. He also said that his party would oppose any move by the government to bring in an anti-conversion law.

In an exclusive interview with News24 Editor-in-Chief Anurradha Prasad on Aamne Saamne, he said that an atmosphere of hate is being created by BJP to terrorise both Hindu and Muslims. “I have all the rights to lodge protest against the Prime Minister as every other day we witness BJP leaders making communal statements to please their die-hard Hindu vote bank.”

He further said, “When Modi was Gujarat Chief Minister; he used to address Manmohan Singh as ‘Maunmohan’. Why is he silent now even after listening to all these comments by BJP leaders? The country will question Modi on his promises in year 2019”

On the issue of black money, Owaisi asked the NDA government whether they would be able to credit Rs 15 lakh in accounts of every India as promised during the Lok Sabha elections.

The MIM chief also said that he would oppose the anti-conversion law as implementation of this kind legislation will be an insult to former prime minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. He also laid a condition to support the law only if the government acknowledges the dalits of Muslim and Christian communities as same to that of Hindu, Budhist and Sikh.

Owaisi also hit out at Samajwadi supremo Mulayam Singh alleging that he is hand-in-glove with the BJP. He also charged Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister for not taking any action in rape cases involving 10 Muslim women. He said not even a single chargesheet was filed against any of the accused. “Mulayam wants to create an atmosphere of insecurity amongst Muslims to garner more votes.”
