Hyderabad:
The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has
asked the government departments to remove poles lying on the roads in
the city by December 11 and restore the dug up roads on priority basis.
Commissioner
and Special Officer Somesh Kumar, after a meeting with heads of various
departments on Monday, said the civic body was planning to take up
development of roads on priority to an extent of 320 km and road
cuttings are proposed to be banned for next two years.
Proposals sought
Department officials were told to send proposals within a week as permissions
would not be granted after 15 days. Police Commissioner M. Mahender Reddy suggestion on a every Monday meeting for coordination between all
departments was also agreed upon.
The Additional
Commissioner (Traffic), Jitender, Additional Commissioner of Police (Law
& Order), Anjani Kumar, HMR Managing Director, N.V.S. Reddy and
senior officials of HMWS&SB, Transco, CPDCL, BSNL, R&B, Reliance
and Airtel participated in the meeting.
Minister’s visit
Excise
Minister T. Padma Rao along with senior officials of GHMC, HMWS&SB,
Transco, Revenue and other government departmental heads visited
various areas of Parsigutta under Secunderabad Assembly Constituency on
Monday.
Civic problems
Residents complained
about civic problems like sewerage, drainage, drinking water, street lights, road repair works and footpaths following which the Minister
asked the departments to sort the complaints immediately and directed
the HMWS&SB officials to make arrangements of drinking water on
priority as some of the areas were not getting water regularly,
according to a press release.
